Gopak Furniture Maintenance Guide

Putting up a Gopak Folding Table

Gopak folding tables are delivered with the legs folded into the underframe. With the table upside down or on its end, pull one set of legs from underneath the table, until the legs click into the plastic leg-retaining mouldings. Do the same for the other leg. Then you can turn over the table and it is ready for use.

Keeping It Clean

Gopak Folding tables are made from high grade pressure laminate and should be cleaned using non-abrasive bleach-free cleaner. Wipe the table top clean with a damp cloth. Do not use polish on the table top.

The frame and legs are made from mill-finish aluminium which can tarnish over time if exposed to damp conditions. To prevent this, wipe legs and frames with a damp cloth.

Folding Down a Gopak Folding Table

Turn the table upside down so the legs are pointing upwards; pick up one end of the table, placing the short edge of the table at your hip. Squeeze the tube covered by the blue leg-grip (or white plastic strap) so that the legs are released. Lower the legs to the table top. Repeat on the other side for the other set of legs.

Table Storage

When you come to store your Gopak folding table, ensure that it is stored upright, with the short end on the floor, leaning slightly against a wall to prevent them from falling. If you are storing more than one table then you should place them table top to table top, frame to frame as otherwise the table tops could be damaged by the frames. Alternatively you could consider investing in a storage trolley.

Maintenance

Our Premier, Contour and Contour Plus tables have a blue grip follower to prevent the legs from being overstretched. This should be left in place at tall times. Some people find that this can come out of place if it is misused. It can be replaced by twisting the grip follower and relocating the lugs into the leg-retaining mouldings.

Our Economy folding tables have a white plastic retaining strap, which prevents the table legs from being overstretched. It is important that this strap remains in place so do not remove it.

Fastfold tool

The Fastfold tool is a special tool designed for folding down Gopak folding tables. It is intended for use by those who use their tables frequently such as those who run activities in schools or community centres. To use the tool, place it centrally under the tube covered by the blue grip follower or white plastic strap. Push the Fastfold tool downwards and this should lever the leg from the leg retaining blocks. The leg can now be lowered to rest underneath the table-top.

Economy back

Ensure the white plastic leg strap is in place on your economy folding tables. This also illustrates how to use a Fastfold tool.

Transporting/Carrying

Gopak folding tables are designed to be lightweight, portable, easily stored and can be carried by one person. When carrying a Gopak table ensure that the legs are folded down and that the under frame of the table is facing away from your body. Place your hand on the middle section of the table top so that its weight is evenly distributed and lift the table up.

Using Gopak Tables Outside

Gopak folding tables are designed for use at outdoor events, but we advise against leaving tables with plastic laminate surfaces outside in wet conditions. Ensured they are stored somewhere dry after use. The Gopak All-Aluminium folding table, however, can be left outside in all weather conditions, or even in damp sheds or garages without degradation.

Big Foot

If you intend on using a Gopak folding table outside on soft ground, then we recommend the use of the "Big Foot". This will prevent table legs from sinking into the soft ground, especially if the table is intended to hold a heavy load.

Table Cloths

If you would like to use a table cloth, you should probably secure it with a table cloth-clip. Otherwise you could see the table cloth fly away in the wind, especially if sufficiently heavy items are not stored on top. 35mm clips fit to the edge of a Gopak table top.

Gopak Stacking Benches

Once the legs of the stacking benches are erect, the benches should be stacked for storage. The benches can be stacked to a maximum height of ten. The benches should only be folded occasionally as doing so weakens the aluminium leg tube. You may want to fold them occasionally for transportation purposes.

You can use a bench skate to move the benches once stacked. Take a bench and place the legs at one end into the recesses in the top of one of the bench skates. Repeat this at the other end of the bench with the other bench skate. Then stack your benches on top of each other up to a maximum of eight benches.

Gopak benches are intended for use in the outdoor, but we do not recommend leaving plastic laminate topped benches outside in wet weather conditions. Store them somewhere dry between uses, and if you are using them on soft ground we recommend the use of the "Big Foot" which will prevent the legs from sinking into the ground under the weight.

Posi-Lock Folding Tables

The Posi-Lock folding mechanism is found on Round, Universal and Vantage folding tables. To release the legs from under the table frame, pull the cross bar at the base of legs and release from the under-frame section. Fully extend the legs until you hear a "click". Repeat this with the other leg. Turn the table over and place the legs on the floor. The table is now ready for use.

Loading Gopak Storage & Transportation Trolleys

Use the assembly instructions to assemble your storage trolley before loading with tables. Place the tables at a slight angle against the trolley frame to prevent them from falling forward. Once loaded, safety straps should be applied to secure the tables in place. Brake castors are fitted to the trolleys and should be applied when loading and unloading.

Gopak Play Furniture

Gopak Play Furniture is made of coloured MDF. It is a flat-pack, self-assembly product with full assembly instructions included. We recommend that the product is not left outside or stored anywhere damp as this may cause the panels to warp.

A storage bag is available to keep all components safe, particularly useful if you need to assemble and disassemble the Play Furniture regularly.

GOPAK ENVIRO RANGE

Gopak Enviro Tables are delivered flat for self assembly. To fix the legs to the table frame, place the table top on the floor with the under frame facing upwards, take a leg and push it into the corner section. Ensure the leg is pushed as far as it will go. Now fully tighten the two grub screws with the allen key provided. Repeat this until all four legs have been fixed and tightened. Now turn the table over and it is ready for use. The table should now be used as a fixed leg table.

The outdoor Enviro range of tables and benches is made from synthetic wood, produced from recycled plastics. This is a maintenance free product (i.e. no oiling required) but can be cleaned using a damp cloth.

Storage

We recommend that Enviro products are not disassembled. However, the table legs can be removed for occasional storage, by loosening the grub screws with an allen key. This reduces the amount of storage space which is required.
